COLLECTION 1: JOHN WINTHROP’S â€Å"MODEL OF CHRISTIAN CHARITY† Winthrops sermon, â€Å"Model of Christian Charity,† was filled with biblical rhetoric to inspire and compel his listeners to work together as one body for the good of the entire community and for the pleasure of God. He believed that the world and God would be watching the colony to see if it would truly become what God intended, which to Winthrop was a â€Å"city upon a hill† to be admired and replicated.
